Mama Geo was founded in 2004 by Salima Manji.


Salima noticed a child wearing an amber necklace and enquired with the mother as to the nature of the stone. When the mother mentioned the healing properties of amber, Salima was curious and made a few investigations online. After reading many articles on how amber works naturally with the body to calm and relax it and how amber has been used as jewellery for centuries by midwives and mothers in the Baltic countries, she made a trip to Poland to meet with a number of amber suppliers.

A few months later a producer was found, who made Grade A 100% Baltic amber children’s necklaces. Salima then set about testing them on her friend's children who slept and bathed in them for months and noted how happy the mothers were with the children being calmer and more relaxed. The positive feedback from the mothers lead Salima to set up the Mama Geo website.
